Hijab vs Saffron Shawl controversy now at Kundapur Govt Junior College

Kundapur: As the Hijab row in Udupi reached attracted national attention, a hijab versus saffron shawl controversy has raised its head in a college in neighboring Kundapur.

A similar controversy over wearing hijab and saffron shawl has erupted at the government Junior College in Kundapur.

It is gathered that MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty held talks to convince the parents of the Muslim students which have failed.

Reportedly, the minister has announced that students should wear only the uniform prescribed by the college and nothing else will be allowed.

Some students said they will attend the class wearing saffron shawls if Muslim students wear a hijab inside the classroom. Some were already spotted wearing saffron shawls on the college premises.
