Hiriyadka: Gold ornaments, cash worth Rs 8.50 lakhs stolen from house

Gold ornaments and cash amounting to Rs 8.50 lakhs were stolen from a house on Monday afternoon in Onthibettu, near Hiriyadka.

The theft occurred while the occupants were away, visiting the temple.

The victim, identified as Shankara T., resides in Onthibettu School, Anjaru village. The incident transpired around 12 noon on Monday when Shankara and his wife left for the Hiriyadka temple. Upon returning home at 1 pm, they were shocked to discover that the back door’s lock had been forcefully broken.

It was then revealed that precious gold ornaments and  cash had been stolen from their house.

The stolen gold jewelry weighed a total of 242 grams, valued at a staggering Rs. 8,50,000. In addition to the  ornaments, the burglars also made off with a camera worth Rs. 40,000 and cash amounting to Rs. 20,000.
