Hiriyur: CM’s escort vehicle topples, several injured

Chitradurga: One of the escort vehicles of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who is on his official visit to the town, has reportedly toppled at Hiriyur, here on Tuesday, November 22.

The police vehicle toppled near the Hiriyur Taluk Office has left police personnel and two pedestrians injured.

It is learned that the incident took place while the escort vehicles were travelling from Vanivilas Dam towards Nehru Maidan. At this point in time, a bike had come on the way, and to avoid it, the driver applied brakes.

As a result of this, a police vehicle in which CPI Ramakanth of CEN Police Station was travelling rammed into two pedestrians and toppled. Due to the impact, two pedestrians namely Manjula and Manoj (mother and son), residents of Maskal village, one woman staff, three constables, PSI, and several others including CPI Ramakanth were injured.

The injured are being treated at Hiriyur Taluk Hospital.

Meanwhile, the incident is captured in one of the nearby CCTV cameras.
