Hit and run case: Public chases and stops escaping lorry that hit a pedestrian

Haleyangadi: A lorry which hit a pedestrian at the main market here inflicting serious injury to his feet, attempted to escape from the location but was chased and stopped by the locals. The injured is identified as Manju, a resident of Anekal in Bengaluru and a day wage labourer by profession.

On Saturday, the victim was crossing the road in the morning when the lorry coming from Udupi side hit and escaped from the location. However, locals Vamana Poojary and Yogish immediately chased the escaping lorry on a two-wheeler, caught up with the vehicle at Pavanje and brought it back to the location of the accident.

A local identified as Adi Bolluru shifted the injured Manju to Mulki Government Hospital where he was provided with first aid post which he was admitted at the District Government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru.
