Holiday declared for schools and PUCs in Dakshina Kannada for July 6

Mangaluru – In light of IMD’s forecast of xtremely heavy rainfall across Dakshina Kannada district, District Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has declared a holiday for Anganwadi centers, primary schools, high schools, and pre-university colleges on Saturday, July 6.

This precautionary measure comes as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a RED alert for extremely heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi. The forecast indicates widespread rainfall with the possibility of very heavy to extremely heavy showers over the next two days.

Earlier, Udupi district also announced a holiday for educational institutions in Kundapura and Brahmavar regions due to the threat of flooding in low-lying areas.

Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and take necessary precautions.
