Holiday season: Tourists throng coastal cities; Hotels, homestays fully booked

Mangaluru: In the wake of the Christmas and New year holidays tourists have entered the coastal cities of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in large numbers. All the hotels, resorts, and homestays are fully booked till January 2.
Many from other districts of Karnataka and also all over the country have arrived at coastal districts to visit the religious and tourist attractions and to taste the delicious fresh seafood. The number of visitors arriving for the international cultural Jamboori that is being held at Moodbidri has also increased.
All the hotels, resorts, and homestays are fully booked till January 2. In the district of Dakshina Kannada, there are 80 registered homestays, out of which most are in Mangaluru itself and a few are in Ullal, Surathkal.
As many as 400 rooms of the star hotels in the city also have been fully booked despite the rates of hotel rooms being sky high.
Malls in the DK and Udupi also see a large number of people during the holiday season.
