Home alone woman hammers sexual predator until he escapes

Bengaluru: In an act of bravery, a home-alone software engineer fought off her sexual predator by continuously hammering him on the back.

It is gathered that man barged into the 23-year-old woman’s home in Chinnappanahalli, Southeast Bengaluru, around 4.15 AM on Friday, January 18. He came in by breaking open the door saying that he has a gun and threatened her that he would shoot her dead if she screamed for help. Then overpowered her and tried to sexually assault her, but the woman was made of sterner stuff. Braving his slaps, punches, and beatings, she picked a hammer and went after him and kept hammering him on the back and screaming for help after which he decided to flee. 

Minutes later, neighbors rushed in after hearing the screams saw the woman’s injuries on the neck, face, and hands, they took her to a hospital. 

The Victim has filed a complaint with the HAL police. In her complaint, she mentioned that her attacker gave his name as Arun during the fight and that he is aged between 32 and 36. 

Police have registered an FIR under IPC sections 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 376 (rape), 323 (assault) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
