Honey to be included in mid-day meals

Bengaluru: Centre asked state govternments to include honey in their ongoing mid-day meals acros.
However the Department of Primary and Secondary Education will seek suggestions from the Department of Health and Family Welfare on implementing this at all schools run by the Karnataka government.
The MHRD received communication from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare that the National Bee Board which produces honey and other beehive products will generate income and employment for beekeepers or farmers. It requested the MHRD to include honey in schools. The MHRD has issued directions to all the states, including Karnataka.
