This amount has been released from the annual grant of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, said Academy President Tharanath Gatti Kapikad.

Tharanath Gatti Kapikad expressed his gratitude to Kannada and Culture Minister Shivraj Thangadagi and the Department’s Director Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti for approving the release of the honorarium for Tulu teachers.

Tulu was introduced as an optional subject in 2010. Currently, Tulu is taught in 33 schools under the state board curriculum. These 320 students were recently felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 each at a program held in Tulabhavana, informed the Tulu Academy President.
