Honour Killing: Pregnant Woman Burnt Alive in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: In shocking incident, a 21 year old pregnant lady, Banu Begum burnt alive by her members of family on Saturday night at Gundakanala village in Muddebihal taluk of Vijayapura district after she married a youth from outside of her religion. Her husband, Sayabanna Sharanappa Konnur was also seriously injured in the attack and he is being treated in a hospital.

The couple were from same village and the lady got married to the youth from outside of her religion even if her members of family opposed their marriage. The eloped duo were returned to their native place from Goa four day ago after registering their wedding at Muddebihal sub-registrar’s office. The police arrested Banu’s mother, sister and brother in connection with the incident. The police yet to trace other two accused as they were found absconding after committing the crime.
