Hubballi: Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) got a green signal to celebrate the birth anniversary of Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan next month at the Idgah Ground in Hubballi.

AIMIM and a few other organizations had recently approached the municipal corporation seeking permission to celebrate Tipu Jayanti at the Eidgah Maidan.

The civic body on Wednesday, November 9 announced it was accepting the AIMIM’s request to celebrate Tipu Jayanti.

Meanwhile, Mayor Veeresh Anchatgeri told news agency ANI that religious activities can be done at the Eidgah Maidan, but “no big leaders will be allowed”.

Following the civic body’s announcement, Sri Ram Sena has submitted a request to celebrate Kanakadasa Jayanti at the ground.

It may be recalled that permission for Ganesh festival celebrations had triggered a controversy in August on the same ground.
