Hubballi-Dharwad district admin give written assurance on vaccine safety to man reluctant to take Covid jab

Dharwad: A Hubballi man who was reluctant to take the Covid vaccine jab. citing concerns over its safety was administered with the first dose of the vaccine after district administration officials assured him of providing medical help in case of any adverse effect.
The man, Anand Konnarka, a resident of Yellapur Oni had ensured vaccination of his family members but was himself reluctant to take the jab over fears of who would look after his family if something happened to him due to the adverse effect of the vaccine.
During a meeting convened by the district Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil to increase the vaccination coverage, Anand stated the reason for his reluctance in taking the shot. Though officials tried to convince him on the safety of the vaccine, he remained adamant and sought a written assurance from the district administration that his family would be taken care of if something happens to him due to adverse effects from the vaccine.
Finally, Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagara Palike Commissioner Suresh Itnal gave him a written assurance which was also signed by the DC, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer B Susheela and other senior officials who were present at the meeting.
Later, Anand was administered the first dose of Covaxin and was instructed to take the second dose after 28 days.
