Hubballi: Karnataka international film academy honors Naveen D Padil at Karnataka international film festival

In a prestigious moment at the Karnataka International Film Festival held in Hubballi under the leadership of the Karnataka International Film Academy, the talented artist Naveen D Padil was awarded the Best Actor accolade for his remarkable performance in the critically acclaimed film “Moogajjana Koli.”
Directed by Suresh Tumkur, “Moogajjana Koli” is a poignant portrayal of an elderly man’s unique bond with his beloved rooster.
The film, set against the scenic backdrop of South Karnataka’s Sullia region, has resonated with audiences for its heartwarming narrative and authentic portrayal of the local culture, including the usage of the rare Arebhashe language. The Karnataka International Film Academy, under the guidance of President Lakshminarayana Kaje, has recognized and celebrated the film’s contribution to the cinematic arts.
“Moogajjana Koli” has garnered several awards at various prestigious film festivals, including the 23rd UFMC International Film Festival in Goa, Jagan International Film Festival, the Festive de Cinema de Sifalu in France, the Golden Femina Film Festival in Italy, Jammu Kashmir International Film Festival 2023, Student World Impact Film Festival, Birsamunda Film Festival, and Tamizhagam International Film Festival, where it received the Best International Film Award. Also, the film has won awards in the Rohip International Film festival, Lift0 Off global network film festival in UK.
Notably, the film also received appreciation at the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival, where it was officially selected. Dr. Jeevan Ram Sullia, the director of the critically acclaimed play “Amara Sullia Swatantrya Horata 1837,” also contributed noteworthy scenes to “Moogajji Koli.”
The film, produced under the banner of “Nammakannada Productions” by K. Suresh, features a stellar cast, including the talented Gaurika, who played the role of Kanasu (Babekka), and other renowned actors such as Prakash Thuminadu, Deepak Rai Panaje, Roopashree Vorkady, Sukanya, Raghavendra Bhat, Dr. Jeevan Ram Sullia, Kumari Sanidhya, among others.
The Karnataka International Film Academy, led by Lakshminarayana Kaje, has been actively promoting and recognizing regional languages and cultures, and this year, “Moogajjana Koli” stands as a testament to their commitment. The film is expected to hit the screens in the first half of 2024, promising audiences a unique cinematic experience.
