Hubballi: Members of the Lingayat Panchamasali community launched the Ishtalinga Puja struggle, pressing for a 2A category reservation for the community.
Kundgol MLA M.R. Patil inaugurated the event by garlanding the statues of Kittur Chennamma and Sangolli Rayanna. The rally will proceed from Bankapura Chowk to Gabbur Circle, where the demand for reservation will be asserted.
Addressing the gathering, Basavajaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji of Koodalasangama Panchamasali Peetha said, “Rights are being sought through Ishtalinga Puja on a district level. This struggle is not confined to one district, but will resonate across all districts until the community’s demands are met.”
“We, as a community, have unequivocally voiced our demand for reservation. Previous governmental efforts in this direction have fallen short. We insist that this government heeds our call and fulfills our rightful demand, well before the struggle concludes in all districts,” he added.
