Hubballi violence: Police hold flag march

Hubballi: Police, on Sunday, held flag marches across the Hubballi city as part of preventive measures in the wake of the Saturday night violence and vandalism.
The intent of the route marches is to instill confidence among the people and to warn miscreants against disturbing the peace, the officials said.
The city witnessed mob violence over a provocative WhatsApp status on Saturday evening. The berserk mob went on a rampage in the city streets, pelting stones and destroying public property. Several policemen were injured in the incident. Section 144 had been clamped down in the city following the incident.
So far, 46 persons have been arrested in connection with the violence.
