Hubli: Congress MLA Zameer Ahmed said that his statement about Hijab has been misquoted. “I had said that girls wear hijab to protect themselves and hide their beauty from prying eyes. My statement was misinterpreted and confusion has been created,” he said.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, he clarified ” I never said that not wearing a hijab leads to rape.”

“I said that hijab is not worn for beauty purpose alone, but it is also for safety,” he added.

“If I was misquoted, what can I do?” he asked.
