Hubli: ‘My statement was misinterpreted’ says MLA Zameer Ahmed on Hijab remark

Hubli: Congress MLA Zameer Ahmed said that his statement about Hijab has been misquoted. “I had said that girls wear hijab to protect themselves and hide their beauty from prying eyes. My statement was misinterpreted and confusion has been created,” he said.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, he clarified ” I never said that not wearing a hijab leads to rape.”
“I said that hijab is not worn for beauty purpose alone, but it is also for safety,” he added.
“If I was misquoted, what can I do?” he asked.
Islam mandates wearing hijab for girls and women, but some choose not o wear it, he said and added that the court verdict will be obeyed.
