Huge boulder falls on Anganwadi building, temple storeroom

Gadag: A huge boulder fell on an Anganwadi building and a temple storeroom, damaging both the structures in Bommasagar village in Gadag on Thursday evening.

Luckily no casualties were reported in the incident that took place at around 4.30 pm since no one was present in the buildings at that time.

A boy playing in the field nearby witnessed the boulder, approximately 15 X 20 feet in size, rolling down the hillock and falling on the Durgadevi temple storeroom and the Anganwadi. He initially thought that few devotees, who otherwise sit in the temple premises during evening time, might have been crushed to death by the boulder. However, luckily no one was around at the time.

A villager said that the unprecedented rainfall in the area which might have led to the landslide.
