‘Humility is T Ranga Pai’s hallmark’: Dr Sandhya Pai

Udupi: Senior artiste T. Ranga Pai is “humble despite his education and achievements,” said Managing Editor of Taranga magazine Dr. Sandhya S Pai.
Dr. Sandhya Pai made these observations on Sunday at the function organized by ‘Kala Coast’ at MGM College to felicitate T Ranga Pai on being awarded the “Kalashree Rajyotsava Award.”
“Arrogance comes naturally when one gets education or power. But T Ranga Pai is an exception to this. This is his hallmark,” she said in praise.
Dr. Ashok Pai, secretary/treasurer of TMA Pai Foundation reminisced about how T ranga Pai had influenced his childhood. “During my childhood, my father gave priority to music… It was Ranga Pai along with Vijayanath Shenoy who brought famous artists to Udupi and Manipal for a performance,” he said.
MAHE pro-chancellor Dr. H.S. Ballal recalled the memorable Kishore Kumar night in Udupi hosted in 1971. “I was a part of it… It was an unforgettable experience. I later found that T Ranga Pai’s role in it,” he said.
In his keynote speech, T Ranga Pai recalled how late Dr. TMA Pai influenced his interest in musical arts. “Late Dr. TMA Pai started learning music at home to complement his formal education. I was impressed by this… I too started maintaining a balance between general education and the musical arts,” he added.
