Chikkballapur: The police have arrested a man for killing his wife after the accused killed his wife after banging her head against the wall and then spread a lie that a cow had killed his wife. The deceased has been identified as Ratnamma (42) who was murdered by her husband Soorappa Reddy. The incident is reported from Kondareddihalli of Gudibande taluk in the district.

The incident

Soorappa, husband of the deceased Ratnamma had returned home for lunch when he saw his wife speaking on the cell phone and got angry. There was a verbal duel between the couple which crossed all limits when irate Soorappa slapped his wife Ratnamma on her face. He then caught hold of her head and banged it against the wall. Due to the impact, Ratnamma collapsed to the ground.

Failing to foresee this turn of events, Soorappa took Ratnamma to the private hospital of Chikkaballapur. However, Ratnamma had breathed her last on the way to the hospital.

Completely scared by this development, Soorappa devised a story and told the neighbours and relatives that Ratnamma died as a cow hit her head with its horn and speedily made arrangements to cremate her.

However, Ratnamma’s brother Mahesh grew suspicious on the urgency shown by Soorappa to speedily complete the cremation procedure and informed the same to the Gudibande police station. Consequently, the police rushed to the spot and subjected Soorappa to interrogation when he spilled the beans.

Soorappa has been arrested by the police who are also conducting further investigation.
