Hyundai has launched the all-new Grand i10 Nios hatchback in India in the price range of Rs.4.99 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is available in 10 variants in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Speaking at the launch, S S Kim, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India said, “The all new GRAND i10 NIOS is Made-in-India, Made-for-the-World Product. The Indian Market is key and axis point of Hyundai’s global growth plan. The 3rd Generation all new GRAND i10 NIOS is our third Consecutive launch in India of highly successful i10 Brand. The launch of all new GRAND i10 NIOS will stand for our commitment to the Indian Market and fulfil our promise of creating a happy life for our customers.”

The name ‘NIOS’ stands for ‘More’ which, according to Hyundai means the new Grand i10’s promise of providing more to the buyer in terms of space, features and performance. It depicts the persona of the Athletic Millennial offering More Value, More Features, More Space and More Excitement to live a Happy Millennial Life.

The Grand i10 Nios is the third-generation model of the popular i10 hatchback and has been positioned in between the Grand i10 and the i20 models of Hyundai. It is a more premium offering compared to the previous-gen i10 models and will co-exist with the current Hyundai Grand i10 instead of replacing it.

In terms of design, the Grand i10 Nios features a dynamic exterior look created by the Hyundai Signature “Cascading Grille” that offers a wider and a stronger appeal to the front while the sculpted bumper at the rear gives an embracing look with stable and sportier imagery. In comparison with the Grand i10, the new Grand i10 Nios gets new projector headlamps with LED DRLs, projector fog lamps, new design 15-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out C-pillar, roof rails, shark fin antenna and a revised set of tail lamps on its exterior.

The compact yet spacious interiors sport an ivory-grey colour scheme featuring an all-new dashboard, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system holding Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Other highlight features include steering-mounted controls, powered ORVMs, a 5.3-inch part-digital instrument cluster, a four-speaker Arkamys sound system, wireless charging, a USB charger at the front and a power outlet at the rear, automatic climate control, keyless entry, rear AC vents, rear parking camera and so on.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios features a 1.2-litre BS6 petrol engine and a BS4-compliant U2 diesel engine. The petrol unit is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated motor that delivers 82bhp power and 114Nm of torque while the diesel engine is a three-cylinder, turbocharged unit that puts out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by 5-speed MT and AMT gearboxes, delivering fuel efficiency of 20.7kmpl and 20.5kmpl respectively on the petrol motor while the diesel engine comes paired with  either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT with fuel efficiency of 26.2kmpl.

The new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will toughly compete with the likes of the Maruti Swift, Ford Figo and the Tata Tigor.
