Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah threatened to launch an agitation against the government over the issue of reservation.
Speaking with this regard Siddaramaiah said that the Congress will agitate against the efforts to dilute reservation.
“It is a constitutional issue and the Union government has to appeal against it before a larger bench of the court, and the matter needs to be taken up by a nine-judge constitutional bench,” he added.
I have no trust in Prime minister Narendra Modi led BJP government, but I do trust the courts” the former CM added. He sarcastically noted how one person belonging to the ruling party said he wants to burn the Constitution, while another wants to alter it.
Siddaramaiah remark comes after Veteran Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday demanded that the union government either file a review petition in the Supreme Court or amend the constitution to make a reservation a fundamental right in the wake of the recent apex court order.
