Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Mandya Lok Sabha JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy’s father HD Kumaraswamy rubbished the reports that Nikhil had insulted his grandfather and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda and threw tantrums at a hotel in Mysuru
Addressing presspersons with this regard he said that Nikhil had not insulted HD Deve Gowda and described it as an attempt of character assassination.
He further added, “I, as a father, brought my pain to the editor’s attention. I request the media not to play with emotions with false news.”
It may be recalled that newspaper report, without quoting any sources, claimed that Nikhil Kumaraswamy first shouted at the staff of a hotel in Mysuru and later slammed Mr Deve Gowda for fielding him in Mandya. He was disturbed that he was trounced by an independent woman candidate in Mandya, making it a disastrous electoral debut for him and that his cousin, Prajwal Revanna, was offered an easy ride, contesting on home turf, Hassan, by Mr Deve Gowda.
Mr Prajwal Revanna was the lone JD (S) candidate elected to Lok Sabha, defeating former minister and BJP candidate A Manju, in Hassan constituency by an impressive margin of votes.
