ICC World Cup: Traffic restrictions announced for Chinnaswamy stadium matches

Bengaluru: In view of the ICC World Cup cricket tournament, a series of five matches are slated to take place at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the city. To ensure smooth traffic flow during these events, the local traffic police have issued a set of road closures and restrictions.

The matches are scheduled for October 20, Oct 26, November 4, Nov 9, and Nov 12, with playtime from 7 am to 11 pm. On these dates, the following roads will be closed to vehicles:

Queen’s Road, MG Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Central Street, Cubbon Road, St. Mark’s Road, Museum Road, Kasturba Road, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road, Lavelle Road, Vithul Mallya Road, and Nripatunga Road. Public vehicle parking areas have been designated on the first floor of King’s Road, UB City parking lot, Shivajinagar BMTC bus station, and paid parking facilities will also be available.

In terms of security, especially for the match between Australia and Pakistan scheduled for a Friday at 2 pm, proactive measures have been taken.

A robust police presence has been established in the vicinity of the stadium. Thorough inspections, including checks by the dog squad and bomb disposal squad, have been conducted in the spectator galleries within the stadium and across the entire ground. Over 700 police personnel have been deployed to oversee security. The security arrangements are being coordinated by Additional Commissioner of Police Satish Kumar and Central Division DCP TH Shekhar is leading the efforts.
