ICG rescues 25 fishermen stranded at sea

Karwar: The Indian Coast Guard personnel, on Thursday, rescued 25 fishermen in distress at sea, some 10 nautical miles from Karwar, off Loliem Pt (Polen) on Karnataka and Goa border.
The ICG received a distress call on Thursday afternoon noon around 1.30 p.m. The fishing vessel ‘Yashwardhan’ had reported hull damage and flooding.
Immediately, an Indian Coast Guard ship based at Karwar was diverted to the rescue of the distressed fishermen. After reaching it, 17 crew members were taken on board the coast guard ship. Five crew members of the coast guard ship joined the remaining crew of the fishing boat for de-flooding.
Later, another fishing boat named Amrutha towed the boat to Karwar harbour at about 4.45 p.m., stated a press release issued by the Karnataka headquarters of the Indian Coast Guard.
