New Delhi: The Ministry of AAYUSH and the Indian Council of Medical Research have not responded to the COVID-19 drug released by Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Research Institute.

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev had said that the Coronil pill released by Patanjali on Tuesday, June 23 would cure COVID-19 by 100 per cent.

The Institute located in Haridwar in the news conference held there stated that the Coronil drug has been tested on patients and is effective. 69 per cent of patients were cured within three days and all patients were healthy within seven days. The test was conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Medical Science, Jaipur.

However, the Indian Medical Research Institute (ICMR), the entity entrusted making the final decisions on COVID-19’s treatment, vaccination, medicine and other issues, declined to comment on Coronil.

ICMR stated that they do not review Ayurvedic medicines which comes under the jurisdiction of the AAYUSh Ministry.

The AAYUSH Ministry has stated that it is the State governments that issue licenses for the production of Ayurvedic medicines.

Patanjali Research Institute claims that Coronil has obtained a drug license.
