Mysuru: Expressing regret over their decision to ally with Congress, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that if it were not for that alliance he would still be the chief minister

“We joined hands with the Congress as per HD Devegowda’s advice. Had we made an alliance with BJP, I would still be the CM of Karnataka,” Kumaraswamy said at a press meet here.

“I worked hard for 12 years and gained public confidence. However, Siddaramaiah ruined it. It was a  planned strategy to ruin the image of the JDS party,” he added.

Speaking about the BJP government, the former CM said that it’s been 15 months since they came to power. The ministers are not responding to the peoples’ problems.

On whether he has developed a soft attitude for BJP, Kumaraswamy said that irrespective of the party in power he will support the good work done by the state government.

“The current government is not addressing any problems properly. The centre government also is showing stepmotherly treatment towards Karnataka, I think BJP party bigwigs have also forgotten that BS Yediyurappa is the CM of this state,” he added.

Speaking about the BJP core committee meeting which was held in Belajavi Kumaraswamy said, “BJP leaders have not yet fulfilled the promise made to the people of the district during previous elections, yet they are again making fake promises. The state government is not ready to take any suggestions for the leaders of the other parties, instead, they only think of cheating people.”
