Panaji: Kannada movie “Hadinelentu”, directed by Prithvi Konanur is the opening feature film in the Indian Panorama category of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa.

As per the storyline, the movie revolves around two characters named Deepa and Hari, both class 12 students. They record their intimate moments in a classroom after college hours on a Saturday noon. The moments are captured on Deepa’s phone.

On Monday, to their horror, the principal of the college summons them saying that their video is now on the internet. Hearing this, their families are shattered, and the college administration decides their fate while they remain rusticated.

Interestingly, the situation goes out of control when the caste of both students comes to the fore.

Speaking about the movie, Prithvi said, “The movie reflects the current scenario of adverse effects of social media usage and lack of guidance and awareness to the youth. Instead of finding an immediate solution to the problem, we tend to pass on the responsibility to others’ shoulders. This creates problems in one’s life. The movie also sketches out the patriarchal society, casteism, economic imbalance, and other social issues”.

“I’m not favouring or taking any sides. I leave it to the audience to think and decide. I have just made an attempt to present situations and unexpected scenarios that commoners go through”, he added.

The movie has a cast that includes Sherlyn Bhosale, Neeraj Matthew, Rekha Kudligi, Bhavani Prakash, and Ravi Hebballi.

“Hadinelentu” is produced by Konanur Productions. The movie is edited by Shivakumara Swamy, the screenplay by Prithvi Konanur and Anupama Hegde, and the cinematography by Arjun Raja.
