Panaji: Kannada (non-feature) movie “Madhyantara – Intermission”, directed by Basti Dinesh Shenoy from Mangaluru is all set to be screened in the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) on Sunday, November 27.

As per the synopsis of the movie, the movie revolves around two little boys, growing up in the 1970s in Karnataka, who work as waiters at a small eatery in a mofussil town. Poverty is not an impediment to their love for cinema.

The movie is a journey of two boys from being pedestrians film buffs to their lucky foray into the world of filmmaking and eventually journey towards becoming film directors.

The movie will be screened under the Indian Panorama – Non-Feature category.

Speaking about the movie, Dinesh Shenoy said, “The movie is completely composed on a 16 MM camera. We have applied old techniques in the making process. This is a special cinematic journey which dates back five decades”.

“The reason to set the backdrop of the movie to the 70s and 80s is that the people had begun adapting to the socio-political and cultural changes during that time. While in the modern era you make anything possible through scientific and technological advancements, the feel of getting back to the olden days will give people all together a different feel. This is an attempt to capture the minds of viewers with a different approach”, he added.

The movie cast includes actors Veer, Ajay Neenasam, and Ramesh Pandit. It is edited by Suresh Urs and has a screenplay by Basti Dinesh Shenoy and G. Vishnu.
