Ahmedabad: An IIT-Mumbai graduate has reportedly been arrested by Gujarat ATS for allegedly sending an email, a few days ago, threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The accused identified as Aman Saxena (25), a resident of Adarshnagar in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested, TOI reported on Monday, November 28.
The PMO had received an email threatening to kill the Prime Minister at a rally in Jamnagar. “The home ministry entrusted an investigation to the Gujarat ATS regarding the threatening email to the PMO (Prime Minister’s office). After which, the ATS began an inquiry and traced the sender of that email in Adarshnagar of Badaun,” TOI reported an ATS officer as saying.
Revenge for a failed love affair with a girl seems to be the motive behind the threat email. “During thorough questioning by ATS, Saxena revealed that he had sent that email in the name of a man who was close to a girl whom Saxena loved. Saxena wanted to implicate that man in a false case. However, we will probe all possible angles,” a senior ATS officer told TOI.
