Illegal cattle trafficking: Bantwal Police nab one, another escapes

Bantwal: The Bantwal Police arrested goods vehicle driver Abdul Hameed (37), accused of illegal cattle trafficking, here on Sunday.
As per the reports, in the wee hours of Sunday (July 24), a team of police led by PSI Harish M R was patrolling in the Montimaru vicinity. The patrolling was carried out on confirmed information of illegal cattle trafficking. During this time, vehicles were subjected to checking. Meanwhile, a goods carrier coming from Manchikatte failed to stop.
Later, the police chased the vehicle for about 500 metres and stopped it. Accused driver Abdul Hammed was nabbed, while his partner Abbas Mulamane escaped. On checking the vehicle, police found that three cattle were torturously tied up.
Police are on a hunt for accused Abbas.
Meanwhile, the police rescued the cattle and seized the goods carrier vehicle worth Rs 1.50 lakhs.
A case has been registered in the Bantwal Rural Police Station.
