Illegal cattle trafficking: Kundapur police rescue 31 buffaloes

Kundapur: Based on credible information, Kundapur DySP Hariram Shankar and ther police personnel on Thursday, November 14 night rescued 31 buffaloes that were being taken to a slaughterhouse in Mangaluru and arrested four persons involved in illegal cattle trafficking.
The DySP and his team were on night patrol duty when they got information about a vehicle transporting cattle illegally from Gujarat to Mangaluru. They swung into action and intercepted the vehicle at Nagoor on national highway 66.
As many as 32 buffaloes had been bundled into the truck with their legs tied. While one of the buffalo died during the inhumane transportation, four others were injured. The buffaloes thus rescued were handed over to the cow shelter located near Brahmavara.
A case in this regard is registered in Byndoor police station.
