Vijaypura: One cow and ten calves lost their lives while being transported illegally in three Bolero pick-up trucks.

The cattle were being illegally transported from Maharashtra to Sindagi town in Vijayapur district. The same was intercepted at Hirebevanur village. Upon discovery, villagers sprang into action, and caught one driver while the other two escaped.

Villagers were shocked to witness the appalling conditions in which the animals were being transported. Calves, most among them, were tightly bound and their mouths sealed with plaster to stifle any sounds of distress.

Tragically, one cow and ten calves succumbed to breathing difficulties induced by the inhumane treatment during transport. Prompt action by the villagers, who untied the plaster and ropes, saved the remaining animals from a similar fate.

Police was initimated and they arrived at the spot and began an investigation into the matter. Over 110 cows, rescued by the vigilant villagers, were safely transported to Vijayapur goshalas under police supervision.

A post-mortem examination of the deceased animals was conducted, followed by cremation arrangements. The accused individual apprehended by villagers is currently in police custody, undergoing interrogation.
