The Assistant commissioner (AC) and sub-divisional officer Madanmohan C issued orders to seize the 15 cents land belonging to Yakoob in connection with illegal slaughter of cows at his shed in Addoor’s Adyapadi.
On August 29, seven persons were arrested under Kankanady jurisdictional police limits for illegal cow transportation. Following their arrest, police came to know about the illegal cow slaughter shed being operated on the premises owned by Yakoob. Subsequently, Yakoob was arrested by the police.
Apart from confiscating 15 cents of land, AC Madanmohan also ordered the police to get a competent authority to do a valuation of the vehicles seized during the raid and submit the report to the court.
The seizure of the land will be recorded in the land records maintained by the Mangaluru taluk tahsildar and also in panchayat records.
Earlier the Revenue Department has confiscated the properties of Yusuf of Ganjimath, Batish of Arkula, and Hakeem of Katipalla under Section 8 (4) of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act in 2020.
Reacting to the orders, BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that any person who does not abide by the law and is involved in illegal cow slaughtering will have to face legal action.
