Mangaluru: Teresa Krasta, a native of Bhagini in Kasaragod and a nun in the Sister of Charity has informed the organisation and her family that she is safe in Afghanistan.

“The Italian entity I work for has taken steps to secure my safety through the Italian consulate in Rome and will arrange for my safe travel to Rome within a few days,” she had said in a voice message.

“Presently, no one is allowed inside the Kabul airport. So our journey has been postponed. I have registered with the Indian Embassy and am in touch with the officials there. They all arranged for our safety. Thank you all for your cooperation,” Krasta said.

Krasta was sent to Afghanistan 3 years ago by the Italian entity where she works in an institution for mentally disabled children.

Sources in the Sister of Charity said that they are currently accompanied by some religious leaders from other institutions and all are safe.
