Mangaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heat wave warning for the coastal region in Karnataka, stating that hot winds are likely to blow on March 4. This warning comes as the temperature in some parts of North India has already increased, including Pune, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
According to meteorologists, this is the first time in recent years that the IMD has issued a hot air warning for the Karavali Coast. The hot winds are expected to blow towards the coastal areas of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, leading to a rise in temperature in the region.
Dr Raje Gowda, a meteorologist, said that a dust storm has started in the Mediterranean region, and if the atmospheric pressure decreases, there is a possibility that the dust storm will blow towards the south, exacerbating the heat wave conditions in the region.
The maximum temperature is expected to remain high till the third week of March. Pre-monsoon rains are expected after the dry spell, according to experts from the meteorological department.
The warning highlights the need for people in the affected regions to take necessary precautions and stay hydrated during this time. With the hot air warning in effect, residents are advised to stay indoors as much as possible and avoid venturing out during the hottest parts of the day.
