The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts since September 29 morning to September 30 morning. A Yellow alert has been issued in Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu and Kolar districts.
The IMD in its bulletin predicted widespread moderate to heavy rains and very heavy rains at isolated places in North Interior Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka districts from September 29 to October 01owing to the depression in Arabian Sea.
The depression is likely to further intensify as a low pressure area and gradually move west-northwestwards during the next 24 hours. Thus , widespread moderate to heavy rains and isolated very heavy rains are likely over most parts of North Inner Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka districts.
Cyclone conditions with gutsy winds are expected over Karnataka coast. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea for the next 3 days (till 2nd).
