A red alert has been sounded for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts.

Southwest monsoon was vigorous over North Interior Karnataka and active over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka, it added.

IMD also issed an orange alert for Friday and Saturday in Dakshina Kannada.

Over the past few days, incessant rainfall in the Karavali coast has wreaked havoc. People living on the coastline in the district are panic-stricken as the rains show no signs of letting up. Many roads were water logged causing difficulties to those driving vehicles and pedestrians.
