IMD predicts heavy rains to continue; issues Red alert for next 24 hours for Karnataka Coast

Mangaluru/Udupi: Indian Meteorological Department has sounded a red alert bulletin for July 7.
Between 1 pm on July 6 and 08:30 am on July 7, scattered heavy to very heavy rain with isolated extremely heavy rain was likely to occur over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka, the IMD bulletin said.
A red alert has been sounded for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts.
Southwest monsoon was vigorous over North Interior Karnataka and active over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka, it added.
IMD also issed an orange alert for Friday and Saturday in Dakshina Kannada.
Over the past few days, incessant rainfall in the Karavali coast has wreaked havoc. People living on the coastline in the district are panic-stricken as the rains show no signs of letting up. Many roads were water logged causing difficulties to those driving vehicles and pedestrians.
