Mangaluru: The meteorological department at Bengaluru has predicted more rains and strong winds along the coastal belt for Saturday and Sunday. The strong winds are expected to give rise to huge waves and therefore the fishermen have been warned to stay away from the sea for the weekend.
The wind is blowing at a velocity of 35-45 km per hour between Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep, and since there is a possibility of this wind gaining speed of 55-60 km per hour, waves with a height of ten to 15 feet are likely to rise, stated the department.
On Friday, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts received heavy rainfall, with most of the places getting between 67 and 100 mm of rainfall in a day. Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Hassan and Kodagu districts also received abundant rainfall.
