In last four years, Rs 14,000 crore granted to DK district: MP Nalin

Mangaluru: The central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has released a grant of Rs 14,000 crore in the last four years for various development projects in the district of Dakshina Kannada, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, speaking at ‘Chavadi Madipu’, a  monthly phone-in programme conducted by All India Radio (AIR), Mangaluru on Saturday, July 14th.

Rs 7,646 crore had been sanctioned for the development of highways and Rs 1,243 crore is being spent for railway projects. Smart City and Amruth Yojana have also been approved for Mangaluru city, he informed.

On the programme, Nalin said that 18,000 gas connections have been given under the ‘Ujwala’ scheme, Rs 800 crore loan is distributed to over 50,000 people and 3.68 lakh ‘Jan Dhan’ accounts have been opened.

the central government has provided Rs 64 crore grant under the ‘Gram Sadak’ scheme, Rs 92 crore for ‘Akshara Dasoha, Rs 35.28 crore for the education sector, Rs 22 crore for the health sector and Rs 346 crore to the zilla panchayats for the implementation of various programmes in the district of Dakshina Kannada, he added.

100 generic medicine centres have been opened, 97 gram panchayats of the district have been selected for the ‘Mission Anthyodaya’ scheme which aims at eradicating poverty, Rs 6.28 crore for the ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ and Rs 29 crores for high school education have been granted, the MP said.
