Mangaluru: Sri Ram Sena on Thursday asked the Karnataka government to implement the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court (SC) on use of loudspeakers and mikes in violation of noise pollution rules.

In a veiled reference at the use of loudspeakers for ‘Azaan’, the Hindu organisation announced that it will launch a massive protest if the state government fails to implement the SC guidelines on noise pollution.

Pointing out that the apex court had delivered an order banning noise pollution 21 years ago, Ananda Shetty Adyar, the Sri Ram Sena State Secretary stated that the BJP government acted upon a recent order of the Supreme Court on illegal religious structures but is not concerned on the apex court’s guidelines against the use of loudspeakers and mikes between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Despite the SC order, loudspeakers and mikes are used throughout the day and no action has been taken till now. Sri Ram Sena will launch a massive protest in this matter, he warned.
