New Delhi: The news of gangster Vikas Dubey’s encounter when he was allegedly trying to escape from the police , a day after surrendering has yet again led to a debate on extra judicial killing on social media.

The last such encounter which would be fresh in our minds pertains to the infamous Telangana rape case, where the alleged perpetrators of the crime were taken to the crime scene to recreate the incident and when they tried to escape, the police officers had to open fire.

At that time too social media users were divided among those who lauded the police for their swift action, while others maintained that this was no way to dispense justice.

Dubey’s killing or for that matter his arrest too was viewed suspiciously, with opposition parties on Thursday asking for a clarity on whether it was an arrest or a surrender. His death has now led to questions whether it was an attempt to silence a man who otherwise could have revealed his connections to political bigwigs.

To say that the encounter scene can remind one of a scene from Rohit Shetty’s Singham movie, starring Ajay Devgn would not be far from truth. Infact, Twitteratis are having a fun day stating that the duo have got a script for Singham 3

Here’s how netizens and personalities reacted to the encounter:

Meanwhile actor Tapsee Pannu reacted to the dramatic killing saying that this was totally unexpected.

While definitely extra judicial killing is not the right manner of delivering justice, similarly a delayed judicial verdict is equivalent to denial of justice. What are your views on the same.
