Mangaluru: The Minister for Tourism, Kannada and Culture tweeted on Monday an appeal to Chief Minister Yediyurappa to initiate necessary procedures to make Tulu language included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
Taking to Twitter he wrote that people of Tulunad have some distinct cultural practices which should be protected and promoted by the state government.

ತುಳು ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ರಾಜ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನ, ಜನಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳ ಮನವಿ. ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ. ನಾನು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ @BSYBJP ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಜನರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ತುಳುವನ್ನು 8ನೇ ಪರಿಚ್ಛೇದದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿಸಲು ಅಗತ್ಯ ತೀರ್ಮಾನ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಇದು ಸಕಾಲ. pic.twitter.com/IyIdwajvPN
