Increase in Covid cases among students, health dept to issue notices to colleges

Mangaluru: As many as 627 students have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last two weeks. The increase of coronavirus infection among college students has alarmed the authorities and in this backdrop, the health department has decided to investigate if colleges are adhering to coronavirus guidelines
Notices will be issued to colleges that are found to be flouting the guidelines.
Out of the students who tested positive, 327 are from Kerala while 77 students are from a private college in Sullia. Meanwhile, the task of tracing the primary and secondary contacts of the infected students is being undertaken.
Meanwhile, the Covid positivity rate on Wednesday came down to 2.04 percent as compared to the positivity rate of 2.69 percent on August 23 and 3.27 percent on August 24.
