Independence Cup football tourney ends on a high note

Mangaluru: The final of the 72nd Independence Cup football tournament was held at Nehru Maidan in the city on Sunday august 15th. The tournament being conducted on behalf of the Dakshina Kannada District Football Association was being conducted since 20 days.

The first prize in the senior primary school girls division was achieved by Mangaluru One School while runner- up went to Prestige international Primary School. Mahim Amin of Mangaluru One won the award for best player.

In the boys division of the senior primary school competition, the first prize was won by Hazarat Sayed Madani School from Ullal and the runner-up was the team from Ikra school. Mohammed of Ikra school won the best player award.

In the competition for High School girls division, St Joseph school won the first prize while the runner-up was won by NITK. Rachana Shetty of St Joseph’s school won the best player award. In the boys division for High School, Rosario School won the first prize while the runner-up was secured by Sneha Public school which also received the best player award through its student Raied.

In the PU college division, St Aloysius college B team won the first place, while the runner-up was won by the A team of St Aloysius College. Maj of St Aloysius College A team won the award for best player. In the college ladies division, The first price was secured by St Aloysius A team while the runner-up was won by St Aloysius B Team. The best player title was secured by Diona D’Souza.

In the degree college division, the first prize was won by St Aloysius College and the runner-up was won by Yenepoya college B team. The best player prize went to Niyaz of St Aloysius College.

Karavali Group of Colleges President Ganesh Rao, Union Bank of India Deputy General Manager T Nanjundappa, St Aloysius College Rector Rev|Fr| Dionysius Vaz, DK district football association president D M Aslam, Fishermen leader Mohan Bangera, Bengaluru Football Club Coach B B Thomas, A K Plywoods Director A K Niyaz, player Mushraf, Jhon, Sameer, Satish and others were present at the programme.
