Bengaluru: India beat Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs in the one-off Test here today to register its first-ever two-day win and the biggest innings victory in Test cricket. It was also the first time an Asian team managed to win a Test inside two days.
The visitors were earlier bowled out for 109 in their first innings and trailed by 365 runs in the second session as Ajinkya Rahane decided to enforce the follow-on.
Following on in the second innings, Afghanistan were bowled out for 103 runs in 38.4 overs in the third session with Ravindra Jadeja (4/17) and Umesh Yadav (3/26) being the star performers in the third innings while Ishant Sharma picked up two wickets.
Captain Asghar Stanikzai (25) and Hashmitullah Shahidi (36 not out) were the only two batsmen who managed to score more than 20 runs for Afghanistan.

India 1st innings: 474 all out in 104.5 overs (Dhawan 107, Vijay 105, Pandya 71; Ahmadzai 3/51, Wafadar 2/79).
Afghanistan 1st innings: 109 all out in 27.5 overs (Nabi 24; Ashwin 4/27) and 103 all out in 38.4 overs (Shahidi 36 not out; Jadeja 4/17, Umesh 3/26).
