Indigo officials lodge FIR against Aditya Rao for hoax bomb threat

Mangaluru: Acting on the complaint lodged by officials of Indigo airlines, Bajpe Police on Thursday morning registered a case against Aditya Rao, who is accused of planting live explosive at Mangaluru Airport for a hoax bomb threat.

On January 20 afternoon, the Hyderabad-bound flight of Indigo airlines had to be called back for checking following a threat call, allegedly made by Aditya Rao.

In the complaint it is alleged that as many as 126 passengers onboard the flight had to be deboarded and a complete sanitization operation was carried out. After a delay of over one hour the flight finally took off for its destination.

Notably CISF personnel had recovered a black bag, containing live explosibe at the IndiGo ticket counter at the airport terminal building on the same day. Later on Wednesday morning the suspect, Rao surrendered before the Bengaluru police and confessed to placing the explosives.
