Bengaluru: A baby was burnt alive while another is battling for his life after being set ablaze by none other than their father at Anjanapura under the Thalagattapura police limits on Sunday night.
Sayi Charan,1, succumbed to the burn injuries while his sibling Sayi Chetan,4, is battling for life at the Victoria Hospital.
The accused, Shrinivas, an electrician by profession was in an inebriated state when he carried out this gruesome act.
According to the police, Shrinivas had married Hemalatha, in 2013, and the couple had two children. The duo had parted ways recently as their relationship had turned sour owing to differences. On Sunday he took the children, who were staying with Hemalatha, to his place on the pretext of buying them new clothes. Later in the night, an inebriated Shrinivas is said to have doused them with petrol while the kids were asleep and set them on fire. Hearing the children screams, locals rushed to their rescue and rushed them to the hospital
Reportedly Shrinivas too sustained 40% burn injuries in the incident.
