International Angling competition at Tannirbavi sees 140 participants

Kulur: More than a hundred people had gathered near Tannirbavi breakwaters on Saturday dawn. They were climbing the stones of the NMPT breakwater near Tannirbavi equipped with fishing pole and bait with the aim to achieve the best catch. Yes, this is the international angling competition.
For the few lucky, who had planned to start fishing early in the morning were successful in catching fishes weighing up to 5 kgs. The caught fish were weighed and as per the angling rules, the fish was let out into the waters again. But a few others waited for hours together with their baits, but were unsuccessful in catching huge fishes. Yet, they did not give up hope, but only changed places hoping for a better catch there.
Anglers from foreign countries including Malaysia, Belgium and Dubai took part in the international angling competition. The sport started from Saturday dawn till evening and will be continued on Sunday too. Later, the one who has caught the biggest and the one who has caught the heaviest fish will be awarded a trophy.
Cash price
The competition is being held in two divisions. In the heaviest fish division the first prices gets Rs 50,000 and the second price get Rs 20,000. In the highest numbers division, the first price is Rs 10,000 while the second price is Rs 5,000 cash price. The prize money will distribution will take place on Sunday evening.
