Chennai: Three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), have obliged to all-rounder Moeen Ali’s request to remove the logo of an alcohol brand on his jersey.
A practising Muslim, Moeen had told the franchise that he doesnt want to flaunt the logo of an alcohol brand on his jersey as it against his religious beliefs.
Islam prohibits consumption or promotion of alcohol.
CSK jersey carries the logo of SNJ 10000, which is a brand of Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries.
As per media reports, Moeen is the first cricketer in the IPL to demand such a move. Players often obtained permission to not display logos or promote products that hurt their religious sentiments.
