In the IPL 2024 auction, uncapped batters Shubham Dubey and Sameer Rizvi emerged as prized catches for Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings respectively, securing hefty contracts.

Both Dubey and Rizvi’s stellar performances in their recent outings have set the stage for heightened anticipation regarding their potential impact in the upcoming IPL season.

Here’s a brief introduction to this year’s uncapped stars:

Shubam Dubey:

  • Dubey is a left-handed middle-order batter representing Vidarbha in domestic cricket.
  • He clinched his maiden IPL deal with Rajasthan Royals at Rs. 5.8 crore.
  • Known for his prowess in late-inning hitting, Dubey showcased his skills in the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and made a notable debut in List A cricket earlier this year.
  • Despite lacking experience in First-Class matches, his exceptional performance in SMAT 2023, amassing 221 runs across seven games at an average of 73.66 and a striking rate of 187.28, solidified his status as a formidable finisher, raising expectations for his IPL debut.

Sameer Rizvi:

  • The 20-year-old batter from Uttar Pradesh, garnered significant attention with Chennai Super Kings lapped him up for a whopping Rs. 8.4 crore.
  • Rizvi’s spotlight moment arrived following his stellar performance in the recent UP T20 League, where he exhibited remarkable form, notching 455 runs in nine innings, including two centuries, for the Kanpur Superstars.
  • His explosive batting style was evident in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he smashed 18 sixes, averaging an impressive 49.16 across 11 T20 matches.
  • Additionally, Rizvi’s impactful contributions in the Men’s Under-23 State A tournament, featuring two fifties and two centuries, highlighted by a rapid 50-ball 84 in the final, showcased his ability to dominate and steer his team to victory.

With their respective abilities to anchor innings and deliver explosive late-game performances, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await their IPL debut, expecting them to replicate their domestic cricket heroics on the grand stage of the Indian Premier League.
